Facebook. I'm sure you have an account. Facebook is a social network brought to us by Mark Zuckerberg in February 2004. It is said that there is over 900 million active users on Facebook since May 2012. I do not understand the reason of each person to have one, but I would be a hypocrite if I said that it was a complete waste of time, as I too have an account. However, I made my account on the need to keep in contact with the people I have met over the years that live in different parts of the world. It is supposed to be a way we are able to connect and interact with people through the internet.
It is a very complicated website. I can honestly say that within the 200+ friends on Facebook I talk to about 30 of them on a regular basis. And if that isn't saying something I don't know what is. It is just clogging up my news feed with people I no longer talk to. But yet, there is something about it, I cannot delete any of these people, as I have the constant thought that I may (for whatever reason) talk to them again. But that is highly unlikely, but there they are.
Apparently, with Facebook came the incessant need to post revealing pictures of themselves with captions such as 'ew, I look so ugly'. And vague statuses saying 'I can't believe it' and then when someone asks why, they reply saying something along the lines of, 'I don't want to talk about it'. When did people on Facebook seem to think that it was a good idea to do this? I never understood it.
When you go to post pictures on Facebook can you honestly say you didn't look through them all before picking the best one, so why do you need to bring attention to yourself by saying you think you look ugly. You are fishing for compliments. And it is not sexy, at all.
And if you post those stupid vague statuses about heartbreak and how sad you are, you better believe that there is someone in your long list of friends that will ask you what is wrong. This has happened to me so many times that if I see you posting something about your problems in a vague manner, then you can bet your life that I will scroll past it. My gosh, can you stop bringing extra drama to the table, I have my own stuff to worry about. This is a conversation that I have grown accustomed to over the past few years:
Friend's status:I can't believe you would do something like that
Me: What's wrong?
Friend: I don't want to talk about it
Me: Okay, well if you ever want to talk, I'm here
Friend: You're such a good friend _____, unlike HIM
Me: Him?
Friend:I don't want to talk about it
IF YOU DIDN'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT WHY DID YOU MAKE A FREAKING STATUS??? It is so frustrating when that happens, and I simply cannot express how much I want to hurt someone whenever I see something like this.
Another thing that irritates me so much on Facebook are those pictures, you know the ones.
"If you scroll past this, you don't have a heart"
"1 like = 1 prayer"
"Like if you would let Jesus into your home"
Yeah, those ones. I think this is actually one of the more irritating things on this website. Just because I don't like a picture doesn't mean that I don't care. But what the hell is going to happen to whatever if I just 'like' a picture? NOTHING, that's what. *GASP* You didn't know that? Well, I am sorry. And just because I don't like something, that doesn't mean I don't want to do something about it, but it means that I am literally thousands of miles away from something that I cannot change or do anything about.
And then of course, those stupid pages. At first it was a way to find out a persons interests. What bands/TV shows/music they like etc. But with time came more pages that are not needed. I have seen them, you have seen them. It happens to all of us. You just can't help but press that like button if it relates to you in any way, shape or form.
But seriously, what happened to this website?
Sorry for the super long rant today, but this just had to be said
